European stocks closed higher on Monday, with the major indices all posting gains. The Stoxx Europe 600 index rose 0.36% to 431.12, while the FTSE 100 index increased by 0.50% to 7,327.39. The French CAC 40 index added 0.44% to reach 6,825.07, and the German DAX rose by 0.20% to 14,716.54.

Top Performers

Among the constituents of the Stoxx Europe 600, Siemens Energy AG saw the largest increase, with its shares jumping by 12.7%. Business services firm Afry AB and health care/life sciences company Siegfried Holding AG also performed well, with their shares adding 7.0% and 4.9%, respectively. Air transport company Wizz Air Holdings PLC and retail firm THG PLC rounded out the top five performers, with their stocks gaining 4.7% each.

Biggest Declines

On the other hand, technology company Infineon Technologies AG saw the largest decline among the Stoxx Europe 600 constituents, with its shares weakening by 6.4%. The stocks of technology firm STMicroelectronics N.V. and health care/life sciences company Sartorius AG also declined significantly, falling by 6.0% and 5.4%, respectively. Retail company Ocado Group PLC and health care/life sciences business Merck KGaA were among the top five decliners, with their stocks falling by 4.2% and 3.6%, respectively.

Currency and Commodity Updates

In currency markets, the pound was up 0.26% against the dollar, while the euro gained 0.41%. Meanwhile, Brent crude weakened by 3.08% to $86.45.

Bond Yields

The yield on the 10-year gilt rose by 1.27 basis points to 4.560%, while the yield on the German 10-year bund declined by 0.790 basis points to 2.83%.
